Core Country - 10:30

Core Country is kicking off the entertainment at this Years Exhibition singing and playing your  “old timey” Rock and Country favourites.  This five piece group of musicians are no strangers to the local music community having played at numerous dances, festivals and night spots over the years.

Core Country is country to the core and their music will set the scene for what will be a fabulous weekend of great entertainment at this year’s Fair.

FiddleJam - 11:45

A fiddle group with guitars, mandolins and whistles that plays Celtic choons along with bluegrass, Old Time and swing ditties that keep the twinkle toes a-tappin'.

Murphy’s Law – 13:00

Murphy's Law is fronted by Irish-born vocalist, whistle player and award-winning author Mary Murphy, known for her warmth and engaging performances.

No passport required—we'll bring the music to you!

Alongside Mary are guitarist Paul Keim, banjo player Stefan Schedler, and upright bass player and flautist David Denz, each bringing distinctive musicianship and musical voice to the group.

Together they weave Irish, Celtic and folk music into performances filled with authenticity, musical joy and a heartfelt celebration of the traditions they share.

From tender and reflective to spirited and uplifting, Murphy's Law invites audiences to journey through music that honours tradition while celebrating its continuing evolution. Along the way, don't be surprised if you hear the occasional Irish language—after all, no journey to Ireland would be complete without a little of its beautiful language. Cousin Harley - 14:30

The Cousin Harley sound is unique.   Although deeply rooted in Hillbilly, Rock n Roll and Honky Tonk music of the mid 20 century, they consistently breath new life into the genre and infuse everything from Be- Bop to shredding guitar rock into the music that would influence everything that came afterwards.    Their most recent musical offering on Cellar Live Records, “Cousin Harley plays the blues Volume 1”, harkens back to the pre Rock n Roll era where small combos were mixing Blues, Jump and Boogaloo music.   Cousin Harley has achieved a cult like following around the world and is know as one of the most virtuosic and entertaining trios around.

One could be forgiven for thinking that up until now Paul Pigat has spent his whole career flying under the radar. Like all those great old Stax records where Steve Cropper stood behind Otis Redding and played his heart out before anyone knew who he was, Pigat has been creating sweet sounds for some of the best artists in the country without getting the attention you’d expect. Still, you’d have to have been hiding under a pretty big rock to have never heard the immediately recognizable sound of his distinctive guitar playing as over the last several years this unassuming Vancouver native has quietly compiled a list of credits that would be the envy of anyone in the music business.

CVEX presents Spanish Boots! the Comox based band igniting the local scene with an electrifying mix of Latin rhythms, blues grooves, and rock energy.

The Big E and the Singin' Sistas combine the brilliant piano and vocal talents of Erik Eriksson with four dynamic singers to create an engaging, feel-good atmosphere that keeps local audiences dancing down memory lane through hits of the 50's, 60's and 70's.  

Old Time Fiddlers - 11:00

Toe-tapping, heel-kicking entertainment! You will hear polkas, jigs, reels along with some country music, so get out your dancing shoes

Exit 30 - 13:00

Exit 30 is a rock band delivering powerful live performances that blend rock covers with original music. Known for their strong stage presence and tight musicianship, they are quickly becoming one of Vancouver Island's rising stars and a Campbell River local favourite.

The lineup features AJ Lontayao on guitar/vocals, Finley Kyle on guitar, Lucas Murray on drums, Eli Rosenthal on keys/vocals, Willum Ashurst on keytar, and Kevin Johnstone on bass.

Every member contributes vocally, creating rich harmonies that add a powerful layer to their sound. Their ability to switch between lead vocals, harmonies, and instrumentation is outstanding.

With regular performances across Vancouver Island and shows in the Lower Mainland, they deliver a consistent, engaging show that connects with a broad audience.

Driven by a shared passion for live music, the band is also focused on growing their original catalogue and developing their sound, with more new music in the works, an expanding performance schedule, and exciting opportunities ahead.

The band's name was inspired by a speed sign on Highway 19, just before the turnoff to their hometown, Campbell River, on Vancouver Island, British Columbia!

Laurie Tinkler Highland Dance - 14:15

The Laurie Tinkler School of Dance has a family atmosphere that focuses on friendship and fun, while encouraging our dancers to achieve their goals. Our talented faculty is dedicated to providing top-notch instruction across a variety of dance styles, including Highland, Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Modern Stage, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Contemporary, and Irish Dance.

Sunday, August 30 - Youth Talent Spotlight - 14:45

The Doll Twins

Gabrielle and Charlotte Doll, known as The Doll Twins, are 17-year-old twin fiddlers from Quadra Island, BC.

The sisters have been playing fiddle for 14 years and have grown up making music together. Recently the girls had the opportunity to perform as special guests at the Quadra Island Chamber Music Festival and have performed at various community events throughout the years.

They are excited to bring their music to the fall fair and to share their love of fiddling with the Comox community.

Isla Seitz — Singer

At just 14 years old, Isla Seitz has been singing for as long as she can remember. Her love of music has always been a natural part of who she is, and three years ago, she began formal vocal training to develop her voice and confidence as a performer.

While Isla has primarily shared her talent through year-end vocal recitals, she is excited to step outside her comfort zone and take the stage at this year's CVEX. Thank you to Christy Vanden for encouraging her to take part! With her natural stage presence, confidence, and genuine passion for singing, Isla brings an exciting energy to every performance.

This exhibition marks an exciting new chapter for Isla as she expands her experience as a young vocalist and has the opportunity to share her love of music with a larger audience. She is thrilled to be performing and looks forward to continuing to grow as an artist.

The ATA Girls

The ATA Girls formed in the spring of this year and are made up of Ayla Paramio on piano and vocals, Talia Munn on drums, guitar, and vocals, and Aliza Ashurst on violin, drums, and vocals. Together, they bring a fun and energetic sound to every performance. The ATA Girls enjoy playing songs featuring strong female singers, catchy melodies, and rocking beats!

Aliza Ashurst 

Aliza Ashurst is 11 years old and has been playing music for the past seven years. She enjoys performing traditional fiddle music, pop, and her own original music. Aliza will be accompanied by her father, Amos Ashurst, making this a special father-daughter musical performance. 

Griffin Loiseau-Aston 

Griffin Loiseau-Aston is young musician born and raised on Quadra Island. He is 13 years old and started playing guitar with his grandma Sylvie, when he was 11 in  December 2024. Griffin enjoys listening to and playing a wide range of genres, especially indie rock. Currently his top three favourite bands are Peach Pit,  Gorrilaz and Barenaked Ladies. Griffin performed at the Young Musicians Concert on Quadra in May, and since then has been busking regularly in his community. His most recent guitar teacher has been Good Enough Dave (Dave Bozzenberry). Aside from playing guitar, Griffin enjoys listening to music, bike riding, swimming, busking in his community and hanging out with his friends and family. 

Rowan Swanson

Rowan is a 16 year old multi instrumentalist from Campbell River, BC. Rowan loves performing at open mics in Campbell River, playing guitar and singing a variety of music, including indie, folk, and writing original music. Rowan has been playing guitar since grade 6, and is inspired by many artists, including Nick Drake, Hozier, and Billie Eilish.

Rowan has also performed at Caripalooza, Carihi Secondary School's yearly talent show, twice, and looks forward to sharing more music throughout the community.
